VTG Project Logistics Started a Mega-project for an Air Seperation Plant in Schwarzheide, Germany

A large number of components are being shipped from Asia to Schwarzheide, Germany, where ground was broken for an air separation plant that will later on supply process gases for the new BASF cathode active materials production plant. This plant will be equipped with leading process technology and enable the supply of around 400,000 full electrical vehicles per year with BASF battery materials.

Last week, the transport of a 24 meter long storage vessel started from Magdeburg in Lower Saxony to Schwarzheide in Brandenburg. The transport combination was 53 meter long and weighed about 150 tons in total. It was a matter of centimeters when passing some bridges on the German motorway. Other large parts were reloaded from inland waterway vessels onto truck in Saxony and are currently on their way up North to Schwarzheide. Due to the load height of 6 meters, numerous traffic lights had to be turned and electrical lines disconnected during the transport.

But that’s just the beginning. VTG’s Project Logistics team will be quite busy over the next months managing more exceptional heavylift shipments which are part of this project.
